Costal diningat the rock
Where land meets sea
The Rock offers relaxed coastal dining at its most refined. Our menu draws inspiration from both shore and field, with dishes shaped by flavours from around the world and grounded in ingredients chosen with care. Local where possible, always selected for taste, each element has a purpose and every dish is thoughtfully composed.
The cooking is deliberately simple, but simplicity at this level demands skill, restraint and attention to detail. Portions are designed to suit the moment, whether that calls for a few plates to share, a light bite, or something a little more indulgent.
And because great food deserves great wine, every bottle on our list is available by the glass — even the exceptional ones. It is a simple idea, though rarely offered, and it allows you to find the perfect pairing for each dish, each mood and each moment. Should you wish for guidance, we will be delighted to help.
Food that suits the setting – relaxed, generous, and quietly exceptional.
Food that suits the setting
When the weather allows, we open the large windows onto the sun-drenched terrace just yards from the waves, so you can dine — or raise a glass — with the sea air drifting through, waves almost within reach.
Come for the view. Enjoy a drink by the water. Stay for the food. Simple things, done exceptionally well. Our menus change with the seasons and celebrate the best local ingredients the island has to offer.
Non-residents are always welcome at The Rock.

Start your day at The Rock with a hot bacon bap and coffee, ready to take with you. Pause mid-walk for coffee and cake overlooking the bay. Stop for lunch, rest your legs, and take in the view. Then end the day properly — a glass of wine, dinner by the sea, and nowhere else to be.
Dining at The Rock
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily at The Rock, and everyone is welcome — whether you’re staying at The Albion or simply joining us for a meal by the bay.
Our menus champion local ingredients wherever possible. You’ll find garlic from the world- famous Isle of Wight Garlic Farm, tomatoes grown on the island, meat supplied by local butcher Billy the Butcher & family, and fresh fish sourced from trusted island suppliers. Be sure to ask about the catch of the day, which changes according to what the boats bring in.
If you’d prefer something more relaxed, you’re equally welcome to join us for a drink and soak up the atmosphere — the bar and terrace are perfect for a glass of wine, a cocktail, or a cold beer with the sea just beyond.
Terrace seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis whether dining or enjoying drinks. Please speak to a member of the team when you arrive.
For reservations of more than eight guests, please contact us directly. For tables of ten or more, we kindly ask for a pre-order.
From the sea to the bar
By the water, with a drink in hand.
Sometimes the best seat in the house is simply a drink in hand with the bay in front of you.
Our bar serves a carefully curated selection of wines, beers and cocktails — classic drinks, carefully made and best enjoyed by the water. Perfect for an afternoon by the sea, sunset drinks on the terrace, or something to round off dinner.
Our cocktail list mixes classic favourites with house creations, including: citrus bright Clementine Daiquiris, Lemon Meringue Sours finished with toasted meringue, and Spiced Pear Margaritas finished with caramelised pear. You’ll also find herb-fresh Basil & Blueberry Brambles, Espresso Martinis for an evening lift, and a handful of specially curated seasonal creations inspired by the coast and the island’s spirits.
Enjoy delicious cocktails and a thoughtful wine list chosen to pair beautifully with both the menu and the view.
There’s no need to book if you’re just joining us for drinks — simply come in, find a spot and let the sea set the mood.
